For example, I believe in the Constructivist theory of education, and Howard Gardner s theory of multiple intelligences. In order to be an effective and efficient teacher these theories need to be implemented. What is an effective teacher? An effective teacher is one who runs an effective classroom, and one who touches the lives of their students. An efficient teacher is one who knows what is expected of them. An efficient teacher uses their resources to the best of their ability. To be both an effective and efficient teacher you must have three very important characteristics for student success. The first is having positive expectations, and knowing how to design plans for student mastery. Positive expectations are essential to student success. When the teacher has high expectations, not high standards, the student will perform to your expectations. If you believe that all students are capable of success, and that they are all competent learners, these expectations will diffuse on to the student, which enables the student to triumph. If these expectations are made apparent toward all students it will benefit both the teacher and the learner. Designing lessons for student achievement is also a very important role. To teach for mastery, a teacher must complete two things; know how to design lessons in which the student can learn, and know how to evaluate the learning. Once you have evaluated the learning, you are able to determine if the student has comprehended the concept.
